What Is the Sperm Donation Process?

Step 1Clinical Examination and Suitability Screening

Step 2Blood Tests and Genetic Screening

If the sperm is deemed suitable, the donor proceeds to the next stage, which includes a full blood test. In addition to determining blood type, the screening tests for infections and sexually transmitted diseases (HIV, hepatitis, syphilis, etc.) as well as major genetic conditions. Step 3 Donor Questionnaire and Interview

Step 4 Psychological Evaluation

Sperm donation is a decision that requires mature awareness. For this reason, each donor participates in a confidential session with a Fertulity psychologist. The discussion focuses on internal attitudes, ethical and emotional aspects of the choice, and understanding of the donor’s role. This step ensures that the decision is mature, conscious, and free from external pressures.

Step 5 Signing the Consent Form

After successfully completing all exams and assessments, the donor signs the appropriate consent form. This document explicitly defines their rights and obligations, according to Greek law on assisted reproduction. Step 6 Sperm Collection for Freezing

The final stage includes systematic sperm sample collection, which will be frozen and stored in the Sperm Bank.
